Pricing and plans
Cards has two plans: a free tier and Pro. The free tier works the moment you install the extension — no account and no internet required — and gives you a local bank of cards to create. When you need to create cards without limits, Pro is a flat $30 per month. Everything else about how Cards works is identical on both plans.
The free tier
The free tier requires no account, sign-up, or internet connection. The extension tracks card creation locally on your machine.
How the local bank works
- Initial Allocation: A new installation starts with a bank of 50 cards.
- Accrual: The bank accrues +5 cards per week, up to a maximum cap of 50 cards.
- Enforcement: When the bank is exhausted, you cannot create new cards until it refills. You can still read, edit, and run actions on any card already on disk.
There are no time limits or feature gates on the free tier. The default actions, stream renderers, and local Git-backed history work exactly as they do on Pro.
Pro
Pro costs $30 per month per seat, billed through the dashboard.
- Unlimited Card Creation: The local bank and weekly accrual limits no longer apply.
- Flat Rate: We do not meter your card usage, API calls, or workspaces. There are no overages or monthly quotas.
- License Activation: There are two ways to activate Pro:
- Automatic (online): Register the extension to activate Pro automatically and keep your license current.
- Manual (offline): Paste a license code that begins with
CARDS_v1_into the Cards License panel and choose Apply license. The code is validated locally on your machine and needs no internet connection.
Grant program
We provide free Pro access to individuals who qualify under three categories:
- Students: Active enrollment in an accredited educational institution.
- OSS Maintainers: Active maintainers of established open-source projects.
- Nonprofits: Staff working at registered non-profit organizations.
Grants are applied to your identity after a manual application review. While a grant is active, you get Pro features at no cost.
Cancellation
Because every card is a local Git repository, cancelling your subscription does not delete or lock your data.
If you cancel:
- Pro ends at the close of your billing cycle.
- The extension falls back to the free tier.
- Your local card bank is restored (starting at its last tracked level, up to the 50-card cap).
- You retain full read-write access to all existing cards on your disk.
